How to add custom domain to Kajabi?

Case One: Your Domain Is On the Domain Registrar Platform

If your domain is on domain registrar platforms like Godaddy, Siteground, etc. then it becomes very easy to connect your domain to Kajabi.

There are simple steps to follow:

Step 1: Go to Kajabi -> Settings and click on domains

Step 2: Here you will need to click on “Setup Custom Domain” button.

Now you will need to select “Connect Domain In Kajabi

Now just scroll to the bottom and you will have the option to enter the domain, so just enter the domain you want to connect and it should be without https:// only add example.com and click on next.

Step 3: This is a very important step as you will be connecting your domain to Kajabi now. Once you click on next now you will need to add the Nameservers provided by Kajabi to your domain registrar.

Now just go to your domain registrar it can be Godaddy, Siteground, or anything. Select the particular domain and then go to the DNS settings of the domain where you find the option to add the Nameservers. Now go back to Kajabi copy the Nameservers provided by Kajabi and replace the Nameservers with the new Nameservers.

Remember there should be only two Kajabi Nameservers in your domain DNS and no other nameservers should be there. Save the DNS settings on your domain provider after adding new nameservers.

Now again come back to Kajabi and click on “Done, Verify Domain”, that’s it! Now you will have to wait for 48 Hours until it gets connected. Usually, it takes a minimum of 1-2 hours to connect your custom domain to Kajabi.

Case Two: Your Domain Is On Website Building Platforms Like WIX or Squarespace

In this case, the first step to do is to transfer your domain to any domain provider company like Godaddy, Sitegrount, etc.

To transfer the Domain from these platforms to the domain provider company you will need to do some steps.

Follow this article for more details: https://in.godaddy.com/help/transfer-my-domain-to-godaddy-1592

But yes, if you want to shift to Kajabi from these platforms then you will need to transfer your domain to Domain Registrars only.

Once you transfer your domain, then you will need to follow the same steps as it is shown in Case One.

If you have purchased Google Workspace from these platforms only you will need to talk with support and ask them you want to transfer your Google Workspace to Google only. They will do this work for you.

What happen after you connect your custom domain to Kajabi?

This is most common issue people face after adding/switching to a custom domain

As a Kajabi expert I get these queries often.

"I'm not receiving emails since integrating with Kajabi custom domain settings. Please help!"

"I switched my domain from GoDaddy to Google and my website was previously linked to Kajabi, but now it doesn't work. How can I link Kajhabi to Google without losing any content or data from my website?"

Once you connect your custom domain to Kajabi then the next important thing is to point your webmail service (Google Workspace/Mircrosoft Outlook) to the correct DNS.

Go to settings and then go to the domain. Here now click on “DNS Settings” now here you will need to add some MX Records from Google Workspace into Kajabi.

You can find the MX records in your Google Workspace account also, or you can copy it from this article: https://support.google.com/a/answer/174125?hl=en

These MX records are the same for all so there’s no issue. Now you have MX records so come back to Kajabi and add MX records one by one.

Click on the “Custom Records” button and then click on MX Records.

Now you will have the option to add the MX Records, add all the MX Records one by one carefully from the article https://support.google.com/a/answer/174125?hl=en and that’s it!
