Cool!!
I was always a bright student in my school be it studies or sports.
As long as I can remember, I’ve always loved programming, therefore, I decided to become a software engineer and did my graduation in Information Technology.
After graduation (B.Tech IT, 2011) I was placed in a renowned IT company and life was going pretty well. Fast forward a few years, in the hustle and bustle of work I started realising that I was not doing what I dreamt of (I am talking about kind of projects and work).
But soon I realized what seems to be promised (I am talking about kind prjects and work) is not what you get as a new comer in the company.
Then came the U-turn, In 2015 I left my 6 figure job, my promotion and an award (For building an automation which saved several hours of work).
Why????
To marry the love of my life…..
and because our work locations were so different, one of us had to sacrifice his/her career.
I chose to quit! All was going well except the gradual loss of self-identity with the passage of time.
My parents weren’t happy with my decision of leaving the job..…I wasn’t earning….I wasn’t happy sitting idle at home…
So I started looking for teaching jobs and I found one as a computer teacher in a prestigious school.
But still inside, I wasn’t happy, I wasn’t content because I knew I was meant for MORE….. BIGGER…..
What has Triggered Me To Start Online business?
I wasn’t satisfied teaching kids in school, not because it’s a small or bad job but because it was a gross under-utilisation of my skills.
I started looking for work related to my programming skills.
I asked every single person in my contact list for help.
But nobody helped me with the ‘work from home’.
Actually at that time not many people were aware about the concept of ‘work from home’ in India and it was considered a difficult task with small returns.
Then came the day when someone told me that they can help but ” My skills are not good enough to hire me”.
These words from someone very near and dear eventually changed my life as they shook me to the core but also became the biggest motivation for me to work.
And I decided to get it anyway.
How I Started TechyGrrrl?
At that time I had no clue about “How to start On-line business”.
I searched on various platforms and
I did it for months until
ONE DAY…..
I found someone on LinkedIn ‘working from home’…
He had a service based business and was building WordPress websites.
I then asked him “Can you please help me find some work online?”
He replied “Look at your followers (I just had 7 at that time), nobody knows you. How can you think of getting work!! Start from basics, First find people you would love to work with and then ask them if they need your services.”
You know what, I did follow what he said and it worked.
I got my first project, although I wasn’t getting paid but it was a good start to build my portfolio.
And YES!! I started getting projects and soon I realized I need a website to offer my services more professionally.
This was when I decided to start an online service based business.
I named it “TechyGrrrl = Techy + Grrrl”
Techy – A person who is expert in or enthusiastic about technology, especially computing.
Grrrl – A young woman who is independent, strong and aggressive.
So that’s how I found TechyGrrrl and ‘OMG’ what a ride it’s been since then….!!!!
